Roma Volkshochschule Burgenland (Austria)
The Roma Volkshochschule (Roma VHS) is an independent institution for general adult education with a focus on democracy, human rights, and social inclusion. It is particularly dedicated to educational and cultural work with Roma, but also with other minorities, young people, and migrants. The aim is to promote the exchange between Roma and non-Roma, reduce prejudices, and strengthen social participation through educational and cultural offerings.
Its activities include, among others:
- Roma language courses at various levels
- Workshops and training sessions on political, cultural, and social topics
- Educational work against discrimination, hate speech, and exclusion
- Counseling, skills assessment, and creative educational offerings – particularly in the areas of mental health, social coexistence, and civic education
- Projects with schools, NGOs, businesses, and political decision-makers
Relevance to the current project: Within the framework of the current project, the Roma VHS contributes its many years of experience working with disadvantaged groups – especially Roma youth. It promotes civic education, self-determination, and creativity through low-threshold, inclusive educational offerings.
The target groups of the Roma VHS are people of all ages – from youth to seniors – but in particular:
- Roma and other minorities
- Social workers, educators, teachers, and trainers

Consensius (Poland)
The Consensius Foundation (Poland) was founded in 2012 and is dedicated to promoting democratic values and teaching constructive conflict resolution strategies – particularly through mediation in family, professional, and school contexts. A central concern is teaching children and young people how to resolve mutual issues through dialogue. The foundation offers regular mediation services as well as educational projects, workshops, and training for young people and educators.
Important projects:
- Peer Mediation at schools in Lower Silesia (2016–2017): Introduction of peer mediation at three schools with school programs for conflict resolution.
- Learning democracy in kindergarten (2021–2022): Conveying democratic values to preschool children in Wrocław through workshops, contact with public institutions, and the establishment of a children's parliament.
- Workplace mediation and European values (2024–2025): Promotion of mediation in the workplace within the framework of an EU-funded project.
Relevance to the current project: The foundation brings extensive experience in democracy education for children and adolescents (6–19 years). The focus is on participatory forms of learning, peer mediation, and building an understanding of democracy in everyday education. In addition, teachers aged 25 to 65 are trained to integrate democracy, mediation, and civic participation into their lessons.
Target groups:
- Educators of all school levels, particularly in preschool, primary, and secondary education

Akata Makata (Greece)
Akata Makata is an innovative preschool/kindergarten in Greece that cares for children aged 2 to 6 years. The institution places great emphasis on holistic and inclusive education tailored to the individual needs of each child. The children come from diverse linguistic, cultural, and religious backgrounds, creating an intercultural learning environment.
The pedagogical approach combines:
- play-based learning,
- language development through creative activities,
- role-playing and outdoor learning,
- as well as social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Special features:
- The only UNESCO kindergarten (ASPnet) in Greece that advocates for the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Participation in the "Bravo Schools" initiative to promote sustainable development.
- Active participation in innovative EU educational projects.
Relevance to the current project: Akata Makata brings expertise in the fields of early childhood education, sustainability, and multicultural learning. The goal is to convey democratic values, self-confidence, and social responsibility to children from an early age – always through a playful, child-friendly approach. Furthermore, the institution promotes close cooperation with families and the children's social environment.
Target group:
- Children aged 2 to 6 years
- Focus on children with diverse cultural, linguistic, and social backgrounds
- Involvement of families and the community to promote a holistic educational environment
