From 12–15 January 2026, a Learning, Teaching and Training Activity (LTTA) took place in Polanica-Zdrój, Poland, as part of the Erasmus+ project “Democracy in Action: Empowering Adults to Teach the Next Generation.”

The international training brought together 11 adult educators, teachers and trainers from Austria, Greece and Poland. The aim was to explore democracy not only as a value, but as a lived educational practice that can be meaningfully passed on to children, particularly those aged 5 to 9.

The LTTA focused on:

  • practical methods for democracy education
  • participatory learning environments and dialogical approaches
  • the role of adults as facilitators of democratic learning processes
  • translating democratic values into everyday educational practice

Participants worked with established methods and concepts such as Philosophy for Children (P4C) and the pedagogical approach of Janusz Korczak, who viewed children as rights holders and active contributors to society.

Through workshops, joint reflection and international exchange, participants developed concrete tools and approaches for teaching democratic competences in an age-appropriate and sustainable way.

The LTTA not only strengthened individual pedagogical competences but also contributes to the long-term development of a democratic culture of education across Europe.
